The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) has published a new dedicated webpage providing clear and practical information about eFTI, mainly for the Norwegian transport and logistics community.
Available in Norwegian (but also translatable in English), the page explains how eFTI will enable freight transport information to be shared digitally and securely between economic operators and public authorities. It outlines what the new framework could mean in practice for companies and drivers, including the possibility of presenting freight documentation digitally during roadside inspections instead of relying exclusively on paper documents. The portal is available at this link.
The webpage also provides an accessible overview of the wider eFTI ecosystem. It explains the roles of certified eFTI Platforms and national eFTI Gates, how they interact with competent authorities and how existing business systems can be connected to this European digital environment.
Particular attention is given to the types of regulatory information that could initially be exchanged through eFTI, including documentation related to cabotage, dangerous goods transport and the import and export of waste. The page also illustrates the different stages of a roadside inspection using eFTI, from uploading information to an eFTI Platform to granting an authorised inspector digital access to the required documentation.
For Norwegian companies, the webpage offers a useful introduction to the potential benefits of eFTI, even though Norway is not a Member State of the European Union. Nonetheless, Statens vegvesen participates in the eFTI4LIVE project as an observer. This involvement supports the exchange of knowledge with Member States, public authorities, economic operators and technology providers working towards the implementation of eFTI across Europe.
The new page also explains Norway’s specific regulatory context. As of June 2026, the eFTI framework has not yet been incorporated into the EEA Agreement. If this does not happen by 9 July 2027, its implementation in Norway may consequently be postponed.

This new resource will help Norwegian stakeholders follow ongoing developments, understand the opportunities offered by digital freight documentation and prepare for the future implementation of eFTI.
