On 28–29 April, the eFTI4LIVE Consortium gathered in Valencia, Spain, under the guidance of the Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible, coordinator of the initiative. The meeting was hosted by the Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia, with the support of Fundación Valenciaport.
Over the course of two days, project partners came together for a series of presentations and discussions aimed at setting the groundwork for the activities planned in the coming months. The meeting also played a key role in aligning efforts towards the implementation of the eFTI Regulation, scheduled for July 2027.
The agenda combined technical sessions and interactive workshops, covering both implementation-related aspects and communication activities. These sessions provided an opportunity to review progress across the different work packages, exchange knowledge, and further coordinate upcoming actions at both technical and strategic levels.
The meeting opened with welcoming remarks from Juan Manuel Díez Orejas (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia) and Rocío Baguena Rodríguez (General Secretariat of Land Transport at the Spanish Ministry of Transport), who highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in advancing the digitalisation of freight transport in Europe.
A dedicated contribution was also delivered by Lia Potec, eFTI Team Leader at DG MOVE, who provided an overview of the current status of eFTI implementation. Her intervention outlined the progress achieved so far and offered insights into the key milestones expected in the 2026–2027 period.
Beyond the formal sessions, the meeting offered valuable opportunities for networking and exchange among partners, further strengthening collaboration across the consortium. These informal moments proved essential in fostering dialogue, sharing experiences, and building a common understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead.
At the end of the second day, participants also had the opportunity to take part in a guided visit to the Port of Valencia. The visit was highly appreciated, offering a practical perspective on port operations and further enriching the overall experience of the meeting.
On a lighter note, some participants also took the opportunity to enjoy a morning run together as part of the now-growing #eFTIRunners club, adding a friendly and informal dimension to two days of intensive work.
A heartfelt thank you to our hosts and to all the project partners for these two great days in Valencia!
